The Origins of Our Great City…Philadelphia Historic Trolley Tour Experience
Join us for a one-of-a-kind historic trolley tour as we celebrate the birthplace of the USA during the semiquincentennial! When William Penn founded Philadelphia in 1682, he designed it as a "greene countrie towne" utilizing a grid that featured four original park squares at its corners. These spaces — now known as Rittenhouse, Logan, Washington, and Franklin squares — were designed to provide fresh air, greenery, and recreation for residents while preventing the spread of urban fires. Our trolley will explore the current day splendor of the four “squares” while hearing from a special guest tour guide: Ben Franklin!
Our spirited tour guide will take us on a journey and share stories from the origins of the city planning grid!
We will end at the Independence Beer Garden to toast the semiquincentennial.
